An 80th birthday deserves more than an ordinary dinner.
Jennifer and her family gathered at a secluded cabin in Ellijay, GA to celebrate their mom’s milestone birthday with an evening centered around family, good food, and plenty of personal memories. They invited Private Chef George Lochli and Blue Ridge Cabin Cuisine to prepare a four-course dinner so everyone could relax, enjoy the celebration, and spend the evening together.
And somewhere along the way, dinner turned into a Johnny Cash concert.

A Family Celebration in a Secluded Ellijay Cabin
The cabin made a beautiful setting for the occasion, with warm wood interiors, mountain views, and plenty of room for the family to gather together.
Before dinner, we styled the dining table with flowers, candles, linens, chargers, and printed menus for each guest. The birthday decorations the family had already added made the room feel festive without taking away from the relaxed cabin atmosphere.
While Chef George worked in the kitchen, the family settled in around the table and living area, sharing stories and personal moments to honor the birthday girl.
There was plenty of laughter, reminiscing, and conversation happening while dinner came together. Instead of someone disappearing into the kitchen to manage the meal, the entire family could be part of the celebration.

A Four-Course Birthday Dinner
Jennifer’s family chose a four-course, full-service private chef experience for the evening.
Dinner began with bruschetta topped with vine-ripened tomatoes and fresh basil, followed by a grilled pear and arugula salad with red onion, pistachio, radish, and citrus vinaigrette.
The third course featured shrimp and polenta topped with bacon and green onion and finished with beurre blanc sauce.
For the final savory course, Chef George served seared flank steak with a red wine reduction, roasted garlic mashed potatoes, and a vegetable medley.
Each course was prepared fresh at the cabin and served right at the table, giving the family plenty of time between courses to talk, laugh, and enjoy being together.
The Birthday Girl’s Review of the Experience

“Chef George and his wife, Krista, made our family birthday dinner so special and so very delicious. I am the birthday girl and i loved this evening so much more than going out to a restaurant. Chef made us all a menu and explained the dishes to us. The 4 courses were exceptional. There was a guitar on the wall and Chef picked it up, made a pick out of a baggy, and played a Johnny Cash song. He was terrific. And when they left i walked into the kitchen and it was shiny clean. If you are looking for a chef i cannot recommend this team enough. They made our evening special for all of us. 10 stars to Chef and Krista.” — Becky Buday, our birthday girl
Then Chef George Picked Up the Guitar
The cabin happened to have a guitar hanging nearby.
That was apparently all the encouragement Chef George needed.
As dinner was wrapping up, he picked up the guitar and surprised the family with a Johnny Cash solo right there beside the dining table.
The whole room lit up.
It wasn’t something anyone had planned, which made it even better. It became one more unexpected memory in an evening already filled with personal moments for Mom.

An Evening That Was Really About Family
The food and table were part of the celebration, but what stood out most was the atmosphere.
This family genuinely enjoyed being together.
They spent the evening telling stories, honoring Mom, laughing with one another, and turning her 80th birthday into something that felt personal instead of formal. Those are some of our favorite events to be part of.
Jennifer, thank you for inviting us into your family’s celebration and trusting us to be part of such a special milestone. We loved helping you celebrate your mom’s 80th birthday.
