What is included when you hire a private chef in Blue Ridge, GA?
When you hire Blue Ridge Cabin Cuisine for a full-service private chef experience in the Blue Ridge, GA area, Private Chef George Lochli works with you to plan a custom menu, then hand-selects and sources the freshest ingredients for your meal. Dinner is prepared fresh on-site in your home, cabin or vacation rental, where guests can watch and interact with the chef or simply enjoy their time together until the meal is ready. Table setting, professional plating, and chef-led table service are part of the experience. After the meal, our team handles the cleanup so you can enjoy your time with the people you love.
What does the private chef bring to an event?
Blue Ridge Cabin Cuisine brings everything required to execute an elevated in-cabin dining experience. This includes freshly sourced ingredients, specialized cookware and cooking equipment, dinnerware, flatware, table linens, table decor, serving pieces, backup cooking methods and our own cleaning supplies. Beverages and glassware are the host’s responsibility.
Can I hire a private chef if my home or vacation rental kitchen is small or has limited equipment?
Yes. Blue Ridge Cabin Cuisine is used to adapting to small residential and vacation rental kitchens, including those with limited prep space or equipment. We come prepared with our own specialized cookware, equipment, and even backup cooking methods, so you can still hire a private chef even if the kitchen isn’t perfect.
What makes hiring a private chef different from catering?
Hiring a private chef is more intimate and personalized than traditional catering.
With Blue Ridge Cabin Cuisine, the private chef experience is designed to feel intimate, chef-led, and personalized. Chef George works closely with the host to plan the menu, then prepares the meal fresh on site in your Blue Ridge home or vacation rental. Guests can watch him cook, ask questions, and learn about each dish, or mingle, relax, and enjoy the evening while the meal is prepared.
Catering is designed for larger events where the priority is feeding a crowd efficiently, typically in a venue such as a banquet hall, event space, or rented dining room. Menus are usually standardized, food is prepared off-site, and planning is typically handled by the catering manager.
If you want an intimate, chef-led, personalized dining experience in the comfort of your home or vacation rental, hiring a private chef will be a good fit. If your main goal is to feed a large crowd efficiently in a larger event venue, catering may make more sense.
Why hire a private chef instead of going out to a restaurant?
Hiring a private chef instead of going to a restaurant gives you a more personal, elevated, and fully customized dining experience in a place where everyone already feels comfortable—your Blue Ridge home or vacation rental.
You can avoid the hassle of waiting for a table, making reservations, parking downtown, arranging transportation, and driving on unfamiliar mountain roads after dark. Our clients also love the feeling of being cared for. They never have to lift a finger, from grocery shopping to clean up, and they get to feel like a guest at their own celebration.
Unlike a standardized restaurant menu, your menu is created around your tastes, occasion, guest count, and overall vision. Dishes can be personalized around your favorite flavors, preferences, and needs. The experience is also more interactive, with Chef George preparing the entire meal right in front of you.
A private chef experience also gives your gathering a more private and intimate environment. This can be a major benefit of hiring a private chef over going to a restaurant, where you may have to deal with noise from neighboring tables or feel rushed by staff in a hurry turn over the table for the next reservation.
For groups of four or more, spitting the cost of hiring a private chef can also be comparable to eating out at a fine dining restaurant in Blue Ridge, especially when you factor in things like the high markup on food, childcare, parking fees, or transportation costs.

Service Styles and Group Sizes
What group sizes do you serve?
Blue Ridge Cabin Cuisine offers chef-led, plated table service for groups of 4-20 adults and chef-led buffet service for groups of 12-50 adults.
What is the difference between chef-led, plated table service and chef-led buffet service?
At Blue Ridge Cabin Cuisine, our chef-led, plated table service is designed for intimate groups of 4-20 adults. The meal is professionally plated and served to guests at the table. Chef George comes to the table personally as each course is served, interacts with your guests, and describes each dish.
Our chef-led buffet service is designed for larger groups of 12-50 adults who want a bit more flexibility. It includes the same level of detail and thoughtful service we’re known for, while giving guests the freedom to mingle, serve themselves, return for seconds, and eat wherever they feel comfortable, indoors or out.
What is an interactive cooking class?
An interactive cooking class is a private cooking experience led by Chef George in your Blue Ridge home or vacation rental. Your group gets to roll up their sleeves, gather around the kitchen island, ask questions, taste as you go, and enjoy a relaxed evening full of laughter.
Chef George teaches the class himself and keeps the atmosphere casual from the start. He moves from guest to guest to offer one-on-one guidance, help with each step, and make sure everyone feels comfortable jumping in. You do not need to be a confident cook. You just need to be ready to have fun, learn something new, and enjoy the meal you helped create.
What can we learn during an interactive cooking class?
Homemade pasta is one of the most popular choices for an interactive cooking class, especially ravioli. Each guest makes their own pasta dough, then learns how to roll it out, prepare the filling, cut the ravioli, make the sauce, and bring the finished dish together with Chef George’s guidance along the way. The best part is ending the evening with a meal you helped create and not having to worry about cleaning up the kitchen.

Menu Planning
Can each guest choose their own menu?
Chef George works closely with the host to create one personalized menu that works for the entire group. It is not logistically possible to create separate menus for each guest because the meal is prepared by one chef in a residential kitchen, not in a restaurant kitchen with multiple cooks and stations.
If a guest has a food allergy or sensitivity, we recommend eliminating that ingredient from the entire menu to eliminate the risk of cross-contamination in a small kitchen. For example, if one guest is gluten-free, we recommend choosing a gluten-free menu for the entire group.
When a guest has a specific dietary preference, please share that during the menu planning process. In many cases, an individual dish can be adjusted to accommodate individual preferences. For example, if one guest is a pescatarian, Chef George may be able to serve them fish while the rest of the group enjoys steak. Or, if one guest is a vegan or vegetarian, the chef may be able to leave meat or cheese out of their portion.
Chef George wants every guest to be able to enjoy the experience. Sharing dietary preferences and restrictions before the menu is finalized ensures that no one feels left out. Making changes to the menu can be difficult once the team arrives for the event.
While Chef George will make every effort to accommodate dietary needs and preferences, his training is in fine-dining and Italian cuisine. He is not a dietitian, so hosts should talk with their guests before finalizing the menu and tell Chef George exactly which ingredients need to be avoided.
Do you provide beverages or alcohol?
Beverages and glassware are the host’s responsibility. You are welcome to have your preferred drinks available for guests, but Blue Ridge Cabin Cuisine does not provide beverages, bring alcohol, or serve alcohol at events.

Pricing, Billing, and Booking
How much does a private chef in Blue Ridge, GA cost?
In Blue Ridge, GA, hiring a full-service private chef starts at $90 per person for 4-20 guests. Blue Ridge Cabin Cuisine offers a Signature Service featuring a three-course, plated meal at $90 per person and a Tailored Service featuring a four-course, plated meal at $125 per person.
Blue Ridge Cabin Cuisine also offers chef-led buffet service for groups of 12-50 guests. Pricing for buffet service is custom quoted and can be scoped casual to formal depending on the occasion.
Grocery costs are not included in the per person price. Estimated grocery costs are typically charged up front as a deposit to hold your reservation. Gratuity is customary and not included in the price.
Why aren’t groceries included in the per-person price?
At Blue Ridge Cabin Cuisine, we want you to have the flexibility to choose a menu that fits your tastes, budget, and occasion. Calculating grocery costs separately gives you more control over the menu and final cost of your meal. For example, if you choose a chicken or pasta entrée, your grocery costs will be lower than a menu featuring steak or seafood.
Grocery costs are charged separately as a deposit when booking and are based on the estimated cost of groceries for your event. Grocery costs are separate from the service fee and do not come off the per-person price at the close of your event.
How does the billing process work?
To secure your booking, we request a deposit covering the estimated cost of groceries. Your final bill will reflect the quoted price per person, plus any travel charge or additional grocery costs not covered by your deposit. Your final bill is due at the close of your event. Cash and all major debit/credit cards are accepted. We do not accept checks or cash apps for payment.
How do I reserve my date?
To reserve your date, reach out to Chef George to confirm availability and begin planning your menu. Once your menu is finalized, a deposit covering the estimated cost of groceries is required to secure your booking. Please note that delays in communication during this process may result in forfeiture of your reservation.
How far in advance should we book?
We recommend reaching out as soon as your Blue Ridge dates are confirmed, especially for weekends, holidays, and peak travel times. Availability is limited, and booking early improves your chances of getting the date you want.
What is your rescheduling and cancellation policy?
You may adjust your date once with at least two weeks’ notice, as long as your new date is available. Rescheduling or canceling an event within two weeks of your booking date may forfeit your grocery deposit. However, we always strive to collaborate with you whenever possible.
Day-of Event Preparation
How early do you arrive?
Chef George and his team typically arrive 1.5 to 2 hours before your scheduled meal time. This gives the team time to prepare the meal from scratch, set and style the table, and prepare for service.
Is it okay if we’re not there when you arrive?
Yes, it’s okay if you aren’t there when we arrive. Blue Ridge Cabin Cuisine is happy to enter with advanced permission, a door code, and clear access instructions while you are out enjoying your day. You are welcome to return closer to your scheduled meal time and settle in as dinner is being prepared.
What do I need to do on the day of the event to prepare for your arrival?
Before the Blue Ridge Cabin Cuisine team arrives, the most helpful thing you can do is clear the kitchen counters, empty the sink and trash can, and make sure the dishwasher has been run and unloaded. Leaving some open refrigerator space is also helpful.
Please also make sure the oven and stovetop are clean and working. If you notice any issues, let Chef George know so that he can come prepared with an alternate cooking method.
Please share any gate codes, door codes, parking instructions, or access details in advance. If your vacation rental is difficult to find with GPS, written driving instructions are helpful. We’ll also need a level parking space as close to the kitchen access door as possible.
You do not need to set the table before we arrive. Our team will handle the table setting and styling. Once the kitchen is ready and access details are shared, your only job is to relax and enjoy your evening.
