A Blue Ridge Girls’ Retreat Full of Color, Energy, and Really Good Food

When we arrived at this gorgeous home on Lake Blue Ridge, the atmosphere already had a certain energy to it. The view was gorgeous, the house was buzzing, and the hostess had a clear vision: she wanted a dinner that looked beautiful in photos and videos, but still felt relaxed, generous, and fun for the 20 women gathered there.

This was a girls’ retreat with a lively mix of co-workers, friends, and content creators, so the details mattered. Three separate tables were set for the group, each one ready for conversation, laughter, and plenty of pictures. The setting did a lot of the heavy lifting, because Lake Blue Ridge is not exactly shy about being beautiful, but the food and presentation needed to meet the moment.

Chef George prepared a menu that matched the energy of the evening: colorful, celebratory, beautifully plated, and ready for its close-up.

The evening started with garlic-rubbed bruschetta topped with vine-ripened tomatoes, basil, olive oil, and aged balsamic. Next came an arugula and watermelon salad with pear, apple, red onion, and citrus vinaigrette, a fresh, bright course that looked especially pretty on the plate.

For the main course, guests were served braised beef short ribs with roasted garlic mashed potatoes and honey-balsamic glazed carrots. It was rich and satisfying, with just enough sweetness and color from the carrots to keep the plate feeling balanced.

Dessert was a playful finish: mini cheesecakes with strawberry compote and ganache-filled chocolate cupcakes.

As much as we love a beautifully plated dinner, the best feedback comes when the plates leave the table. The empty plates returning to the kitchen told us the food exceeded expectations.

This dinner was a perfect fit for the group and the setting: upbeat, polished, personal, and full of those small details that make an evening feel special without making it feel staged. A lakefront home, three beautiful tables, 20 guests celebrating together, and a menu built around the kind of night they wanted to remember.

That is exactly what we love creating at Blue Ridge Cabin Cuisine. Reach out to Chef George to begin planning your own private chef experience!
