A 40th birthday dinner should be all about the person being celebrated.
For this Blue Ridge birthday celebration, that meant privacy, comfort, mountain views, a table full of laughter, and a menu created for a birthday girl who loves a good meat-and-potatoes meal.
A group of seven ladies gathered at a luxury vacation rental with gorgeous mountain views off Aska Road to celebrate a friend they clearly adored. Everyone chipped in to treat her to a private chef experience that felt relaxed, personal, and completely her style. Instead of planning a night around reservations or logistics, they settled in at the cabin, slipped into matching satin pajamas, and enjoyed an evening that felt cozy and comfortable, yet very special.

The dinner began with bread service and Chef George’s signature dipping oil, giving everyone a chance to relax into the evening before the first course.
For the salad course, guests enjoyed grilled peach and arugula salad with radish, orange, and pistachio, finished with citrus vinaigrette. Chef George grilled the peaches outside, bringing a little smoky sweetness to the dish and making the most of the cabin’s outdoor setting.
The main course was a perfect fit for the guest of honor: grilled flat iron steak with roasted tomato butter, potato gratin, and sautéed haricot verts with onion. It was hearty and comforting, but still polished enough for a milestone birthday dinner.
Dessert brought the evening to a sweet close with mini cheesecakes and fresh strawberry compote.
The table was styled with care, complete with printed menus that gave the dinner a personal, finished feel. With the mountain views in the background and the group gathered around the table sharing laughs in a place where they felt comfortable, the evening felt warm, intimate, and easy in the best possible way.
That is what we love most about private in-cabin dining. The experience can be shaped around the guest of honor, the setting, and the kind of celebration the group wants to enjoy.
For this birthday dinner, that meant good food, thoughtful details, and a group of women laughing around the table while they celebrated a friend they loved.
